Selected from over 450 entries,
delilah. premiered March 29, 2011 as a 10-minute
play at a public reading by Rising
Sun Performance Company in New York City. After
audience and company voting, it went on to be produced with
five other plays July 7-23 at the off-off-broadway theatre,
The Red Room. The play was also produced at The London One
Act Festival (winning top People's Choice Award), the InspiraTO
Festival in Toronto (People's Choice), BoxFest Detroit,
and two others.
In January 2012, a Theatre
Creator's Reserve Grant was awarded to Len Cuthbert
by the Ontario Arts Council, recommended by The
Grand Theatre, London, to write delilah. to
a full length script. As part of the process, a 60-minute
version was first written and directed by Len Cuthbert and
performed at a Fundraising
Event on May 30 and then 6 times at The London Fringe Festival
in June to raving media
reviews. delilah. was nominated for three Beat
Magazine DISH Awards (Best Original Script, Best Director
- Drama, Best Drama) and a Brickenden
Award (Original Script) for the June 2012 production.
From the experience and responses
of these productions, the full length play was completed
and premiered in London, April 3-6, 2013, again to great
audience response and media review.
